EXTTC 8009 - Cascade Level 2

Cascade is the University of Alberta’s web content management system used to create and maintain website pages and digital content. Building on the foundational skills introduced in Cascade Level 1, this course explores more advanced features and page layout capabilities within Cascade CMS.

Topics include understanding how Cascade page layouts function, working with rows and columns, and creating multi-column page designs. Participants will also learn how to use and manage additional Cascade components such as carousels, accordions, teaser lists, and other content elements within broader page layouts. The course will also introduce the process of creating, organizing, and managing news content in Cascade.

Please note that this course is intended exclusively for University of Alberta employees and is not available to individuals outside of the University.

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

• 🗸 Create and manage more advanced page layouts using rows, columns, and the 12-column grid system in Cascade CMS.
• 🗸 Use and configure a variety of Cascade components, including tables, videos, carousels, accordions, tabbed content, teasers, and event lists.
• 🗸 Apply University of Alberta web design guidelines and shared content practices when developing web pages.
• 🗸 Create, organize, and display news content across pages, teasers, lists, and homepages.
• 🗸 Manage publishing workflows using page versions, publishing relationships, scheduled publishing, and unpublishing tools.
