Program Description

When companies put geostatistics to work, they make better decisions, reducing both costs and risks. If you’re a geoscientist or a mining or petroleum engineer, this program will give you the knowledge and skills you need to quantify resources and reserves effectively.   • Flexible payment – pay course-by-course as you go
  • Courses are GST-exempt.
  • Some courses may require additional resources, such as textbooks
Program Details +
  • This program is comprised of one course with a total of 170 instructional hours
  • It’s designed for part-time study and can generally be completed within four months
  • It is recommended that students have a bachelor’s degree in engi­neer­ing, geo­science, or a relat­ed field
  • This course is pass/fail for a grade of CR/NC. You will need to pass your assessments to receive a passing grade.
  • You can expect to spend 60 hours on lecture material, 40 hours on informal learning and interaction, and up to 90 hours on exercises. The time required for exercises could exceed this if customized to a project.
  • 16 comprehensive assignments will be distributed.
  • The course is offered online bichronous or in person. More info about online delivery formats can be found here.
  • Course materials are shared by your instructor. You may require additional resources, such as textbooks.

Receiving Your Certificate +
  • After you successfully complete your program requirements, you’ll receive an email letting you know when your certificate is ready. If you have any questions about your credentials, please contact the program office. Once you receive your certificate, you’ll also be eligible to become a UAlberta Associate Alumni.

  • International Students are welcome to enroll and pay the same course fees as local students.
  • Proficiency in English and a stable internet connection are needed to participate and succeed in our courses.

Completion of EXAGC 4007A and EXAGC 4007B is equivalent to EXAGC 4007 'Applied Geostatistics'. Students will register themselves in EXAGC 4007A and staff will then complete the registration for EXAGC 4007B.
