The Human Resources Management Certificate is focused on enhancing the learners’ abilities to think strategically, while also exploring effective human resource management processes, methods, and techniques. Content covered includes workforce planning, managing performance, HR metrics, strategic management, labour relations, and change management.s.

Through these courses, you will:
- Examine current issues in human resources management.
- Understanding how and why human resources function is integral to an organization’s core management team.
- Explore the theory and practice of organizational environment and structure and the behaviour of groups and individuals within organizations.
- Acquire up-to-date information on employee benefits, compensation administration, labour relations, grievance arbitration, and more.
- Will help you better prepare to be successful in writing the National Knowledge Exam (NKE - the CPHR entrance exam)

Cost
- The approximate cost of this Certificate is $5,960 CAD
- Course Fees: range from $745 to $795 CAD
- Pay as you go - students pay on a course-by-course basis as they register. You do not need to pay the entire program fee at once
- An application fee of $100 is required for admission into the program
- Courses are GST-exempt
- Consider applying for the Canada-Alberta Job Grant

Program Details
- This part-time program is comprised of four core courses and four elective courses. Each course is 39 hours in length, for a total of 312 instructional hours.
- Typical course load is one to two courses per term. When following this structure, most students are able to fulfill the certificate requirements within two to three years.
- Courses do not have to be completed in any specific order, allowing students to choose the courses that best fit their schedule in any given term.
- Courses are graded with assessments. This might include quizzes, exams, discussion forums, papers, and presentations

Receiving your Certificate
- Students can verify their program requirements and progress by logging into the University of Alberta’s student portal, Bear Tracks, to view your Academic Advisement
- A cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 is required to graduate
- To qualify for program completion, you must submit a request to obtain your credential

Transferability

- Students who complete the entire Change Management workshop series can receive credit for 39 hours of elective credit towards this Human Resource Management Certificate
- Courses in this program are also part of the Management Development Certificate
- The Human Resources Management program will help you better prepare to be successful in writing the National Knowledge Exam (NKE).
International Students
- International Students are welcome to enroll in our courses, with the only requirement being a stable internet connection. There are no differential course fees for international students completing courses in this program
- Students are responsible for ensuring that they are proficient in English so that they can fully participate in classes
- Please note that non-credit programming does not qualify for a study permit, therefore, this program cannot be used for immigration to Canada. Foreign nationals authorized to work in Canada who are prohibited from engaging in studies as a condition of their work permit are allowed to engage in distance learning courses.
