The construction industry is one of the largest economic driving forces in Alberta and across the country. And behind every successful construction project is strong management. With your Construction Management & Administration Certificate, you’ll become well-versed in every stage of the construction process, from estimating to scheduling to project management and more. If you’re ready to advance your construction career, this is the program to take you there.

What You'll Learn
- 🗸Explore the full scope of the construction process and the project management required to succeed
- 🗸Understand construction costing and estimating from concept through to completion
- 🗸Create construction plans and schedules with a focus on the Critical Path Method (CPM)
- 🗸Examine the legal side of construction, including how to prepare and interpret contracts
- 🗸Gain confidence in the human side of construction management, including communication and negotiation skills

- Approximate cost of the full program:$5,860 CAD effective Fall 2025

- Flexible payment – pay course-by-course as you go
- Courses are GST-exempt.
- Some courses may require additional resources, such as textbooks
- This program is comprised of six core courses and 39 hours of electives. Courses are 21–39 hours, for a total of 255 instructional hours.
- It’s designed for part-time study and can generally be completed within one to three years.
- You have the flexibility to schedule courses around your availability. Most students complete 1–2 courses per semester.
- Grading is through assessments, which might include quizzes, exams, discussion forums, papers, and presentations.
- It’s a flexible online experience, with courses offered synchronously and/or asynchronously. More info about online delivery formats can be found here.
- Course materials are shared in CE Canvas. Some courses may require additional resources, such as textbooks.

- After you successfully complete your program requirements, you’ll receive an email letting you know when your certificate is ready. If you have any questions about your credentials, please contact the program office. Once you receive your certificate, you’ll also be eligible to become a UAlberta Associate Alumni.
- Courses in this program are transferable to the Construction Estimating and Planning Series.
- Construction Management & Administration Certificate courses are recognized for the Blue Seal Certificate through Alberta Advanced Education — Apprenticeship and Industry Training.
- Courses are accredited by the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) for Gold Seal certification, a nationally recognized standard of competence in the construction industry.
- Select courses within this program are recognized by the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors toward the Professional Quantity Surveyor and Construction Estimator Certified designations.
- Courses from this program may qualify for your association’s professional development requirements. Please contact your association for information.

- Proficiency in English and a stable internet connection are needed to participate and succeed in our courses.
