Course Description

The responsibility of leading a team provides a leader with the opportunity to coach and mentor individual team members, as well as the team as whole. Building upon a leader or manager's performance management skills, topics may include: coaching conversations; coaching for high performance teams; and workplace mentoring and mentorship strategies and techniques.

Who Should Take This Course?

Aimed at emerging leaders, supervisors, and mid-level managers who seek to move up within their organization by improving their leadership skills.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of this course you should be able to:

  • Gain a broad understanding of key definitions, purposes distinctions, benefits, ethical implications, roles, and responsibilities.
  • Identify the attributes, skills, and strategies of an effective coach/mentor.
  • Engage in a coaching conversation: establish a relationship, elicit coachee needs, create an action plan, and a follow-up.
  • Employ active listening strategies and ask powerful questions in both a coaching and mentoring context.
