EXBA 5691 - Solution Design and Quality Assurance
Course Description
Great solutions address the needs of their intended users through good design. This course provides an overview of design thinking and how Business Analysts are involved in the solution design process. Students will learn how to create effective and compelling interfaces, and to develop solutions for managing data. Students will also understand how to define and assess the quality of a solution and how to create quality assurance processes.
This course may be eligible for the Canada-Alberta Productivity Grant (CAPG), with final approval determined by CAPG administrators. Employers and applicants can review the CAPG guidelines and full details on the University of Alberta’s Continuing Education website.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- 🗸 Describe how design supports the development of solutions for needs
- 🗸 Create designs to represent how stakeholders will experience and interact with a solution
- 🗸 Assess the potential effects of design choices on a solution’s performance and utility.
- 🗸 Identify how to integrate components together to create a cohesive solution.
- 🗸 Develop data designs for structured data sets and query against structured data to analyze and report information
- 🗸 Evaluate whether solutions meet requirements and are of high quality
