EXLDR 5626 - Stakeholder Relationships
Course Description
Critical to the success of an organization is its ability to manage the interests of multiple stakeholders. Topics may include: theories and practices of stakeholder identification; stakeholder analysis; stakeholder engagement; and specific leadership strategies that help an organization reach its goals.
Who Should Take This Course?
Aimed at emerging leaders, supervisors, and mid-level managers who seek to move up within their organization by improving their leadership skills.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- Define and categorize stakeholders so that they are better able to develop stakeholder management plans.
- Recognize the importance of stakeholder management and be in a position to charter a course of action that balances the needs of the organization with that of the stakeholder in question.
- Plan and execute stakeholder management effectively based on a structured approach that involves the adoption of defined activities in different stages of stakeholder management.
- Apply the concepts covered in the program to develop an integrated stakeholder management plan.

- This is a graded course; the assessment includes post-course work to be completed via eClass.
- This is a 21-hour elective available to all NACLAA Level I students towards the certificate requirements; however, this course will not be accepted by the Society of Local Government Managers (SLGM) towards their professional designation of Certified Local Government Manager (CLGM). Students should contact the SLGM for details on all designation requirements.
