Course Description
This course emphasizes effective human resource management processes, methods and techniques. The human resource function will be explored as an extension of and support to the line manager's responsibility. This course will also focus on internal and external influences shaping the role of human resource management in organizations today.

Who Should Take This Course?
Aimed at emerging to mid-career individuals looking to advance in their career in the area of human resources or in supervisory positions. It will be of special interest, among others, to HR practitioners, managers, supervisors, and training coordinators.

Learner Outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to: Explain how effective Strategic Human Resource Management (HRM) integrates with an organization’s broader organizational strategy to meet current and future organizational needs, as well as the role that human resource professionals and line managers play as HRM partners. Apply the principles of proactive strategic planning and rational, evidence-based, and intuitive decision-making to meet an organization’s current and future human resource needs. Analyze and design jobs, assess current talent, and apply the principles of effective employee recruiting, selection, and retention in order to achieve organizational goals. Apply the principles of effective compensation and benefit system design and assess how they impact employee motivation, productivity, and business viability. Assess employee performance and support employee learning for current and future roles through effective onboarding, workplace learning, and career development, leading to improved outcomes that align with individual and organizational needs. Apply the principles of building effective employee and labor relations in union and non-union environments. Explain how the synergy between meeting legal requirements, building inclusiveness, and creating a safe and inclusive workplace can contribute to organizational effectiveness and employee satisfaction.
