Course Description
OHS professionals are often called upon to lead an organization's emergency management team. Examine case studies and post-event reviews to learn about the four pillars of emergency management--prevention/mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery--and explore the ways in which they interact in real-life scenarios. Understand how an emergency management program is structured as you work through the Canadian Standard for Emergency and Continuity Management.

Learner Outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to: Explain the key aspects of each of the pillars of emergency management. Relate how the pillars of emergency management are connected and work collaboratively. Show how the requirements listed in the CSA Standard have been addressed or omitted when reviewing an organization's program or its response to an emergency event. Use the CSA Standard Z1600-17 to build a basic emergency management and business continuity program.
