EXSM 3925 - Generative User Experience Research
Course Description
Understanding your user is key to building a successful experience. Learn how human-centred design can generate user insights using quantitative and qualitative methods such as surveys, interviews and in-context observations. This course will also teach students how to summarize their research using Experience Mapping, Journey Mapping, Personas and Service Design Blueprint. This course will also touch upon legal and ethical concerns.
Learning Objectives
After completing this course, students should be able to:
- Understand the value of generative research
- Create rapid prototypes
- Evaluate information structures and categories through card sorting
- Use “How might we…” questions and the “5 Whys” to analyse the root causes of phenomena
- Design, organize and facilitate a generative research workshop
- Build Voros cones and Futures wheels to think about the future in structured ways
- Map customer journeys to build empathy in organizations
- Mix research methods to best address a given context and research goal
- Write concise reports to communicate insights
