EXSM 3998 - Risk Management and Crisis Response
Course Description
Learn how to identify, prepare for, and manage the risks inherent to a professional presence on social media, as well as to recognize the impacts of emerging problems elsewhere online. Explore best practices for policy, procedures, and guidelines for social media within an organization. Draw on learnings from traditional media and public relations concepts to prepare for and respond to emerging issues. Aimed at those working in small to medium enterprises, the not-for-profit sector, and/or board-run organizations, this course will also be of benefit to large enterprise and government sector.
Who Should Take This Course?
Aimed at those who want to better reach and communicate with their target audiences while understanding and building social media skills, including small business owners and those working in government, small to large enterprises, not-for-profits, and board-run organizations.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- 🗸 Understand and articulate the social media-related risks to an organization.
- 🗸 Analyse an organization’s preparedness for the issues it might face.
- 🗸 Explain how an issue or crisis may emerge, how to manage it, and how to recover from it.
- 🗸 Develop online issues management and crisis communications and messages.
- 🗸 Develop organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines for social and digital media use.
