Intellectual Property & Commercialization Online Micro-courses

The Government of Alberta has been helping researchers, entrepreneurs, and industries build the province for over a century. With the help of a provincial grant and the in-depth knowledge of subject matter experts, the University of Alberta, Concordia University of Edmonton, and the University of Lethbridge have collaboratively developed a three-course series focused on Intellectual Property.

Intellectual property (IP) is a cornerstone of innovation. It bridges the gap between creative ideas and tangible economic benefits. With Alberta at the forefront of research and innovation, these courses aim to foster a forward-thinking approach to intellectual property that drives economic growth and competitive advantage.

Through engaging activities and authentic case studies, course participants will acquire a robust understanding of IP in general as well as sector-specific contexts such as energy, agriculture, artificial intelligence technology, and health life sciences. Whether you are a student, entrepreneur, researcher, or industry professional, this series will provide you with the information needed to maximize the value of intellectual assets in today’s dynamic global landscape.

Most learners can complete this course within three hours.

Course Fees

Thanks to support from the Government of Alberta registrations in all three courses are currently available for free ($0.00).
