Program Description

In today’s dynamic and collaborative work environment, effective communication and strong leadership are essential strategic assets, not just soft skills. According to research from Gallup, highly engaged teams with robust leadership and communication frameworks experience 21% higher profitability and 59% lower turnover. These figures highlight the tangible business value that comes from mastering these critical skills.

The Management Development: People and Communication Certificate is designed to empower professionals to cultivate these vital abilities. Participants will engage in practical, career-oriented learning that equips them to communicate clearly and persuasively across diverse business contexts and understand and influence workplace behaviour and team dynamics.

Whether you're at the helm of a team, navigating change, or building a culture of collaboration, this program will prepare you to lead with clarity, foster inclusive and productive workplaces, and achieve measurable success throughout your organization. Invest in the skills that drive high-performing teams and become the leader your workplace truly needs.

Designation Pathway

The University of Alberta’s Management Development Diploma is professionally accredited by the National Chartered Managers Association (NCMA), the education accreditation body of CIM | Chartered Managers Canada.

Completing the Management Development Diploma satisfies the academic requirements of the Chartered Management Program (CMP) and provides a pathway toward the Certified in Management (C.I.M.®) or Chartered Manager (C.Mgr.®) designation, subject to meeting the remaining professional requirements.
