Student Platforms + Access

ConEd Canvas

The University of Alberta’s Information Services and Technology (IST) teams will begin the process of fully restoring ConEd Canvas functionality today, Friday May 15, 2026.

Restoration may take until Wednesday, May 20, 2026 to fully complete, particularly for extensions and third-party platforms. Throughout this process, the U of A is working diligently to ensure there have been additional security controls and monitoring enhancements to help prevent recurrence.

We appreciate the community’s patience as we work to restore Canvas to full functionality. IST and the Information, Privacy and Records Management Office (IPRMO) continue to work together to ensure the university’s response aligns with our Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) obligations.

Email Correspondence

We use your preferred email, which was used for registration, to communicate all important information and notices about your studies.

For students who have been using a UAlberta email address (e.g., @ualberta.ca) as their preferred email, please update your CERegister profile as soon as possible. Ensure that your preferred email address is set to a personal, non-UAlberta email to help reduce future access or communication issues. Continuing Education students who are currently employed by the University of Alberta are not affected by this change.

How to update your preferred email:

  1. Sign in to CERegister
  2. Go to My Profile
  3. Add your personal (non-UAlberta) email address
  4. Under Preferred Email Contact, select your non-UAlberta email
  5. Select “Save” at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

CCID

The University of Alberta’s Continuing Education is streamlining our processes to provide students with a more seamless experience. As part of this effort, students will now access Continuing Education systems and platforms using one email address. To support this change, access to Continuing Education services will be based on your preferred (personal) email address, rather than a UAlberta email/CCID.
