Developed by Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii) and offered in partnership with the University of Alberta Continuing Education, AI Literacy for Everyone focuses on real-world applications and responsible use of AI to help learners build confidence, improve decision making, and adapt to an AI-driven future. This online, on-demand program makes AI accessible to everyone. As artificial intelligence reshapes the professional landscape, understanding its potential and implications is essential for everyone-not just technical experts.
As one of Canada’s national AI institutes, Amii creates and delivers trusted and proven literacy programs that have impacted more than 1.2 million learners, fostering AI literacy to meet broad workforce needs, equipping individuals with skills required in an AI-driven economy.
What You’ll Access
This online, on-demand program includes 12 hours of structured content across four foundational asynchronous courses that introduce concepts in machine learning and ethical application. These courses will provide you with a solid starting point for understanding how AI works, its real-world applications and the importance of responsible use.
Your subscription also includes 12 months of unlimited access to a growing library of secondary literacy modules focusing on AI news and trends, AI tools and resources, AI strategy for leaders and practical applications. These resources are designed to make learning continuous and engaging through AI tool demonstrations, industry case studies, expert interviews, research explainers, debate kits, and practical how-to guides.

What You’ll Learn
Machine Learning Foundations 1 +
Learn to define key AI terms and apply GenAI tools with effective prompting techniques. You'll also reflect on the impact of AI on work and society.
Machine Learning Foundations 2 +
This course helps you assess an organization's readiness for AI adoption and define feasible AI problems that align with business strategy. You will also learn to evaluate data requirements and apply principles of responsible AI.
Responsible AI 1 +
This course helps you define foundational concepts in AI and responsible governance. You'll learn to differentiate between ethics, governance, and safety, and how to apply these concepts to assess risks and stakeholder impacts in real-world scenarios.
Responsible AI 2 +
This course is designed for leaders, focusing on outlining high-level governance structures and processes for the ethical deployment of AI. You will learn to evaluate technical tools, organizational practices, and how national regulations apply to your organization. You'll also learn to anticipate and address emerging governance challenges, such as those related to generative AI.

After completing each course, you will automatically earn a co-branded digital badge accessible within the learning platform or creating an account with Accredible. Upon successful completion of all four courses, you will also receive a final program completion badge within 10 business days.
