EXAUG 6501 - Experiencing the Learning Environment

This course encourages you to examine your teaching practices through the lens of the student experience. Moving beyond lesson planning, you will learn to focus on how lessons are experienced and assessed by students. You will develop the skills to observe learning as it unfolds and respond in constructive, meaningful ways that enhance student engagement, experience, and progress. Throughout the course, you will gain practical tools and strategies that can be applied immediately in your classroom, studio, or practice room.

This course will be highly advantageous to teachers and musicians in a variety of disciplines. It will be of particular interest to music teachers ( classroom K-12, private studio, ensemble directors, community programs) and adult music students.

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

• 🗸 Self-evaluate the delivery of material to the student.
• 🗸 Teach effective practice techniques.
• 🗸 Apply recent research in cognitive neurology to support students' success.
