EXAUG 6502 - Learning with the Instrument
Course Description
This practical application course will equip participants with aural teaching strategies and limited pitch melodies to teach beginning instrumentalists. Using their own instruments, teachers will practice the language learning model of playing by ear, using strong aural skills and embodied learning, to create beautiful tone and technique. By implementing these skills on their own instruments, participants will be better equipped to pass them on to students.
Who Should Take This Course?
This course will be highly advantageous to teachers and musicians in a variety of disciplines. It will be of particular interest to music teachers (classroom K-12, private studio, ensemble directors, community programs) and adult music students.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

- 🗸This course requires that participants provide their own instrument. Use of a high-quality microphone and headphones or speakers will be an asset.
