EXTTC 8000 - Microsoft Excel Level 1
Course Description
New to Microsoft Excel? Start here. This introductory course teaches the foundational skills needed to confidently create and work with spreadsheets. Learn how to create, save, open, and manage workbooks, enter and organize data, and perform basic editing tasks such as inserting, deleting, moving and copying content. You will also explore row, column, and cell formatting, and learn about page layout features, basic formulas and built-in functions to improve efficiency and accuracy.
This course (previously delivered by the Technology Training Centre), helps learners strengthen essential technical skills. Through hands-on activities, manageable class sizes, and interactive instructor-led sessions, learners gain confidence using Excel a core tool in a variety of workplace settings.

This course is ideal for students, professionals and anyone looking to build foundational Microsoft Excel skills for work or school.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- 🗸 Create, save, open, close, and manage Excel workbooks and worksheets.
- 🗸 Organize and edit worksheet data using rows, columns and cells.
- 🗸 Create formulas and use basic built-in functions to perform calculations.
- 🗸 Apply formatting and workbook view features to improve worksheet readability and usability.
- 🗸 Configure page setup options and effectively preview and print workbooks.

- 🗸To succeed in this course, you need basic computer skills and general knowledge of Windows. Microsoft Excel needs to be downloaded and activated on your computer prior to the start of the course. (Software is not provided with the course).

- 🗸The use of AI assistants during class sessions is not permitted. Any AI assistants attempting to join a class session will be removed by the instructor.
