Course Description

New to Microsoft Project? This course is a great place to start. Learn the basics of Microsoft Project, including how to create a new project, build and manage a task list, create dependencies, assign resources, and track progress and costs.

This course offers a supportive and engaging learning experience with direct access to instructor guidance and feedback throughout your training. You will benefit from structured lessons, hands-on practice activities, and opportunities to apply concepts in real-world scenarios. With expert support available along the way, you can build your skills with confidence and develop a strong understanding of the course material in a collaborative online environment.

Who Should Take This Course?

This course is designed for professionals responsible for planning, tracking, managing, or supporting projects, as well as those who want to build practical skills in Microsoft Project.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  • 🗸 Navigate Microsoft Project, including Ribbon tabs, windows, views, and Gantt Chart formatting.
  • 🗸 Create and manage project schedules by building task lists, outlining tasks, linking dependencies, and applying task types, constraints, and critical path settings.
  • 🗸 Add and manage resources, calendars, assignments, work contours, and project costs, including standard, variable, and fixed costs, while resolving resource overallocations.
  • 🗸 Track and update project progress by setting baselines, comparing baseline and actual data, and maintaining project schedules.
  • 🗸 Organize, format, and present project information using sorting, filtering, grouping, page setup, headers and footers, page breaks, print preview, and printing tools.

  • 🗸Please note that this course is designed for PC users. Microsoft Project needs to be downloaded and activated on your computer prior to the start of the course (Software is not provided with the course).
  • 🗸Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications are strongly recommended to support success in the course.
  • 🗸Assessment includes post-course work to be completed.
  • 🗸The use of AI assistants during class sessions is not permitted. Any AI assistants attempting to join a class session will be removed by the instructor.
