Course Description

Ready for a more in-depth intermediate learning of Microsoft Project? This course builds on foundational skills from Microsoft Project Level 1 and introduces more advanced tools for managing and analyzing projects. You will develop the ability to customize tables, views, dashboards, and reports; track and analyze project performance data; manage multiple projects; and work more efficiently with project resources and schedules.

Through instructor-led, hands-on learning activities, participants will strengthen their ability to use Microsoft Project to support more complex project planning, monitoring, and reporting needs.

Who Should Take This Course?

This course is designed for professionals responsible for planning, tracking, or supporting projects, as well as those who want to build practical skills in Microsoft Project.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  • 🗸 Customize Microsoft Project elements, including tables, views, reports, and other components, to support project planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • 🗸 Create and manage sample and custom templates, use the Organizer to manage project elements, and enhance schedules using rollup task bars, hyperlinks, custom WBS codes, and macros.
  • 🗸 Track and analyze project performance using progress lines, Earned Value analysis, and Visual Reports.
  • 🗸 Import and export project data using standard and custom Import/Export maps.
  • 🗸 Create and manage master projects, subprojects, external task links, shared resource pools, and resource assignments across multiple projects.

  • 🗸Multiple course offerings are available throughout the year. Early registration is recommended, as classes may fill up or be cancelled due to low enrollment.

  • 🗸Please note that this course is designed for PC users. Microsoft Project needs to be downloaded and activated on your computer prior to the start of the course (Software is not provided with the course).
  • 🗸Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications are strongly recommended to support success in the course.
  • 🗸It is recommended to complete Microsoft Project Level 1 or equivalent knowledge/experience.
  • 🗸Assessment includes post-course work to be completed.
  • 🗸The use of AI assistants during class sessions is not permitted. Any AI assistants attempting to join a class session will be removed by the instructor.
