EXTTC 8005 - Microsoft SharePoint Level 2
Course Description
This course (previously delivered by the Technology Training Centre) builds on the foundational knowledge from Microsoft SharePoint Level 1 and covers site administration. Through instructor-led, hands-on activities, participants will learn site administration tasks for team sites and receive an introduction to communication sites. Topics focus on configuring and managing site content, permissions, navigation, and site features to support effective collaboration and information management.
Who Should Take This Course?
This intermediary course is designed for staff responsible for managing and maintaining SharePoint sites within their organization.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- 🗸 Create and manage advanced SharePoint lists and libraries using lookup columns, calculated fields, metadata, templates, and custom views.
- 🗸 Configure and manage site columns, content types, and document sets to support consistent information management practices.
- 🗸 Create and customize SharePoint team sites and communication sites using site templates, navigation tools, and site features.
- 🗸 Custom SharePoint pages using advanced web parts and configure site templates, navigation tools, and site features.
- 🗸 Custom SharePoint pages using advanced web parts and configure site navigation to improve user experience and content accessibility.
- 🗸 Plan, manage, and modify SharePoint permissions and sharing settings to support secure collaboration and content access.
Notes
- 🗸To be successful in this course, you should have prior knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint Level 1 or equivalent experience:
- Ability to create and configure lists and libraries
- Ability to create views
- Ability to create metadata fields
- Ability to edit a site page
- 🗸A digital badge will be issued upon successful completion of the course. After the grade is posted, learners will receive an email from MyCreds with instructions for accessing and sharing your badge.
- 🗸Multiple course offerings are available throughout the year. Early registration is recommended, as classes may fill up or be cancelled due to low enrollment.

- 🗸Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office applications, and web browsers is strongly recommended to be successful in this course.
- 🗸You must be able to access websites using an InPrivate (Edge) or Incognito (Chrome) browser window to avoid potential conflicts with organizational SharePoint environments. As some organizations restrict these features, you are encouraged to confirm access with your IT department prior to the course or consider attending from a personal device or home network.
- 🗸Please note that this course does not cover the SharePoint Admin Center, administration of site collections, or any other functions that would normally be handled by IT tech professionals.
- 🗸Assessment includes post-course work to be completed.
- 🗸The use of AI assistants during class sessions is not permitted. Any AI assistants attempting to join a class session will be removed by the instructor.
