Course Description
Want to create professional, industry-standard layouts for print and digital publishing? Adobe InDesign is the industry standard for creating brochures, magazines, books, interactive PDFs, social media graphics, and other professional publications. In this introductory course, you will learn the fundamentals of the InDesign environment and develop the skills needed to design polished single and multi-page documents.
Through hands-on activities and projects, you will work with tools, panels, typography, images, colours, and layout techniques to create professional materials for print, web, social media and digital distribution. You will also learn how to prepare, package, and export documents for both print-ready and digital output.

This course is designed for individuals who want to learn Adobe InDesign and develop the skills to create professional-quality print and digital applications.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- 🗸 Navigate the Adobe InDesign interface and custom workspaces, and set up documents with margins, guides, bleeds, grids, and page layouts.
- 🗸 Create, format, and organize design elements including frames, layers, shapes, text, colours, gradients, strokes, and effects to produce professional page layouts.
- 🗸 Import, manage, and edit graphics, PDFs, and text while working with linked files, text flow, paragraph styles, character styles, and parent pages.
- 🗸 Use productivity and automation features such as styles, find/change tools, spelling controls, AI features, and document management tools to streamline workflow.
- 🗸 Prepare, package, print, and export press-ready and digital-ready documents in multiple formats for print, web, and social media distribution.

- 🗸To succeed in this course, you need basic computer skills and knowledge of Windows/Mac OS X.
- 🗸Adobe Creative Cloud with InDesign needs to be downloaded and activated on your computer prior to the start of the course (Software is not provided with the course).
- 🗸Assessment includes post-course work to be completed.
- 🗸The use of AI assistants during class sessions is not permitted. Any AI assistants attempting to join a class session will be removed by the instructor.
