Program Description

Success in the construction industry depends on the ability to manage risk, negotiate effectively, and navigate complex legal and contractual requirements.

With a growing wave of retirements among experienced professionals, particularly at the managerial level, the industry faces an urgent need to build the next generation of construction leaders. According to the Conference Board of Canada (2024), over 21% of the national labour force is now aged 55 and older, and the construction sector is especially impacted by this demographic shift, creating critical gaps in leadership, oversight, and project execution.

The Construction Management Certificate program equips professionals with the essential knowledge and skills needed to administer contracts, mitigate risks, and lead construction projects with confidence. Participants will explore key principles of construction law, contract administration, and dispute resolution, gaining practical insights into contract drafting, procurement strategies, and risk assessment. The program also emphasizes negotiation and communication techniques critical for resolving conflicts, fostering collaboration, and ensuring successful project execution.

Designed to be completed online through three condensed, high-impact courses, this program offers a streamlined path to upskilling for working professionals. Learners can quickly gain the legal, managerial, and leadership tools required to meet today’s industry demands. This helps fill the leadership gap while contributing to the continued growth and resilience of Canada’s construction sector.

As you build your competencies, some courses in this program may also support your progress toward the Gold Seal Certification or Achievement in Business Competencies (Blue Seal) Certificate designation.
